While doing childcare at Blooma Yoga last December, I had the opportunity to meet a fantastic woman named Sarah Lou Richards. We clicked right off the bat. She told me about her adventures as a postpartum doula with Jamina at Momma Soulshine and I very briefly mentioned that I had been thinking about how cool it would be to serve some of my birth clients as their postpartum doula. We talked about getting coffee and exchanged numbers. That evening I received an unexpected call from Jamina herself, asking if I'd like to learn more about being a postpartum doula. We scheduled a time to have tea and talk. When we met, our connection was undeniable and we both had this feeling that our coming together was not by chance. She kindly took a leap and invited me to be part of the Momma Soulshine team. Jamina has a children's book called "Herman's Journey" and the main message reads..."Trust the process. Have faith. Don't give up. Believe in Miracles." Those words have never rung more true in my life than here in my time in Nashville. It's been incredible to just trust, follow, and see incredible events unfold in my life.

These are photos of Colton and his family, who so graciously accepted me into their home to serve as their postpartum doula. I am truly grateful they welcomed and trusted me knowing it was my first experience in this role. I was beyond thrilled when they asked me to take lifestyle newborn photos for their family. 

I will begin my postpartum doula certification with CAPPA at the end of the month and look forward forward to serving many more families with photography and care in those first months with a new baby.
