What does a newborn session at home look like?
Newborn sessions at home are a really low pressure, comfortable way to make sure you’re documenting your growing family.
What to expect:
Booking: You’ll reach out to inquire and I’ll email back all of the info you’ll need to save your due date in my calendar (I’ll have you reach out after your baby is born to finalize a morning for me to come over). All that’s needed from you to book is a $250 session fee and some quick online paperwork.
Prep Guide: Once you’re booked I’ll email a prep guide so you know what to wear, what your baby should wear, and all the important details about how our morning together will go.
Day of Your Session: I come over around 10am. I’ll wash my hands and ask for a quick tour to see what rooms have the best natural light. We’ll usually take photos in the living room, a bedroom, and the nursery if you have one set up. Please don’t worry about having a perfectly tidy home- nobody actually does ;) I am the master of putting the focus on your connection with your family and not what your home looks like.
We spend a relaxed hour or so taking photos. I’ll get some photos of you swaddling your baby (no worries if you need a hand, why would you swaddle with those big blankets when you have velcro- am I right?). We’ll be sure to get photos of both parents snuggling the baby individually and together, your baby alone, and photos that include siblings and pets if they’re part of your family. Your photos will have a naturally candid look, but please know I’ll be guiding you into poses so you feel comfortable and know what to do. I don’t have a strict work flow and am flexible to leave space for authentic moments, but I will guide you to make sure you get a variety of photos with all the family combinations in about an hour.
After your session: I’ll post a sneak peek on instagram if you’re comfortable with it, no problem if you prefer to keep your baby off social media.
About 3 weeks after the session you'll receive your entire gallery via a slideshow to view. I know my clients use their images in different ways, so I offer collections to choose from after seeing your photos. Each collection includes high-resolution digital image downloads and complimentary print credit to shop in your gallery store. Many families have me design a photo album for them so they can enjoy holding and looking through their photos with their family for years to come.

Your baby is only a newborn for 8 weeks. While timing for at home sessions is more flexible than traditional posed studio newborn portraits, you want to be sure to beautifully document your baby in those first few months because they truly do grow and change so fast.
